About Me

I’m Nick Salem.

I believe businesses succeed when their people are empowered by technology, not buried under it. That’s why I built Boston Managed IT, expanded into Florida with Southwest Florida IT (SWFIT), and created The Cyber Harbor Group.

Each exists to put people at the center—helping leaders, teams, and organizations leverage technology to grow, stay secure, and innovate without distraction.

Tech is a means, not the goal. When it’s right, it gets out of the way—a financial advisor spends time with clients instead of compliance, and a veterinarian focuses on care instead of troubleshooting.

This site is my notebook: short essays and field notes on things that actually work—IT, security, automation—and the messy overlap with policy and regulation that shapes real work.

I split time between Boston, Grand Rapids, and Tampa. Most days it’s me, my wife Elena, and our dog Chloe—walking a new city, on a bike, or on the water.

I grew up on the early internet. It felt lighter. I’m trying to keep a small corner that still feels that way. This is mostly for me, so I don’t forget—but if it helps you, even better.
